A Few Suggested Initiatives What
else can you do? Click here for more....
1. Electors should attend CODEX committee as Citizen monitors and report to the public about what Australian delegates are doing in the name of the community. Contact Food Standards Australia and New Zealand at PO Box 7186, Canberra ACT 26110, Telephone +61 2 6271 2245 or Fax: 62712278 and they will require that the department organize their official entry as observers into the next Codex meetings of the Committee on Nutrition and Foods for Special Dietary Uses.
2. Write to Federal Health Minister, opposition and Prime Minister asking why there has been no public discussion or debate about:
a. The Joint Tasman Treaty that was signed in December 2003
b. The Trans Tasman Joint agency that will take over from the TGA with even greater powers.
c. The Trans Tasman Advertising Scheme allowing drugs to be advertised on the media.
3. Tell your Local member about what has occurred about these schemes coming into “force”. Ask him for information about it. Tell him to oppose it and any legislation that implements the above listed a,b,c changes.
4. Launch a campaign preventing the JTA treaty and the Trans Tasman agency being implemented by Parliament.
5. Join the New Zealand campaigns to prevent its implementation. http://www.nzhealthtrust.co.nz/ ~ Keep in touch with Australian developments on www.evehillary.org and http://www.paradigm-changes.com/
6. Tell your government that you do not recognize legislation that is passed by stealth, that it has no force of law in a democracy. Politicians do not have a mandate to make radical changes without elector’s knowledge and consent.
7. Tell your government that you do not recognize the legitimacy of the TGA or any TGA committee or any of its recommendations or amendments to TGA statutes regarding complementary health products and industry because it has included in its committees, and relied upon representation of and participation by the pharmaceutical industry and other vested interest commercial corporations.
8. Tell your government that you recognize that the Australian owned supplement industry is a separate industry to the pharmaceutical industry and should not be regulated by that multinational industry or its “standards”.
9. Draft and propose a bill that will repeal Australia’s membership in the WTO. including membership as a member country in the UN, WHO and with the CODEX Committee.
10. Draft and propose a bill that repeals all TGA statutes and amendments pertaining to the complementary health industry.
11. Australian complementary health products manufacturers to form an association or guild that excludes multinational corporations from membership or influence over the association or its membership or its decisions.
12. Australian complementary health practitioners to form an association or guild that excludes multinational corporations from membership or influence over the association or its membership or its decisions.
13. Tell TGA and Food Standards that they will no longer send a delegation to CODEX to represent Australia, and all their past decisions are null and void on grounds of the secrecy and stealth with which these actions have been conducted. The electorate does not consent to significant decisions made in secret without community awareness and an opportunity to debate.
14. Contact the Australian Broadcasting Authority (ABA) and the government to let them know that you do not approve and were not consulted about the changes in broadcasting “code” brought about the TGA affiliated Advertising council. Next time you see/hear an advertisement for a drug on TV/radio address an emphatic complaint to: ABA at http://www.aba.gov.au/contact.htm or Free call (Australia only): 1 800 22 6667. Tell them this community will not tolerate direct advertising of drugs to its members including persons that might be put at risk as a result of taking unprescribed pharmaceuticals.
15. Learn how to draft a legal notice that creates a legal entitlement in the event that any action from a government department causes personal damages to physical, or mental health.
16. Call for a Parliamentary enquiry into Corruption in the TGA from improper influences on policy from vested corporate interests.
17. Create a Citizen’s Commission of enquiry into TGA and other government corruption arising from improper corporate influences.
18. Do not recognize or validate decisions made by Corrupted processes, committees or government departments. They have no force in law and they have no moral force on an ethical community.
19. Community must get some action groups on these and other initiatives and be mindful these groups remain unadulterated by corporate interests. Know who is who. Who does what and why. Real grass roots groups act ONLY in the genuine interests of the community.
20. Considering the improper methods used to originate and pass TGA legislation the Australian Public should contact their Members of Parliament and demand they say NO to passing the Therapeutic Goods Amendment Bill of 2005.
